    Wetsuit
Hood
Looking for a wetsuit hood? There
are many reasons to get yourself a wetsuit hood, you may be
a triathelete, a kayaker, rafter, canoer or a snorkeler,
regardless of the case, a good wetsuit hood is going to be a
necessity for you to both provide protection by keeping your
head warm as well as by reducing resistance within the
water.
If you’re not sure which wetsuit hood to
get for yourself, here is a quick look at a few of your
options:
1. Tilos 1mm Metal-Light
Coated Neoprene Adjustable Beanie for Surf Surfing Kayak
Rafting Canoe Snorkel Swimming Cap Hat
This is a great cap that will keep you
quite warm when out swimming. One reviewer mentions it
did a great job for him in 70 degree water. One issue
that was mentioned though as a diver was that it would trap
air at the top of it from the regulator. The air would
keep his head warmer however it messed with his buoyancy and
pull him up when his tank got low. This would lead him
to have to flip over and let the air out which then lets
cold water in. Other than that whole issue though it’s
a good beanie to keep warm during dives.
This is also great if you happen to be
bald and out snorkeling in a hot climate. You don’t
want to get your head all sunburned so a nice beanie like
this will keep you well protected. This one only costs
$14.99.
2. Neoprene Swim
Cap
Here’s another one to consider for you
straight up swimmers out there, this one is $23.99.
This one will give you about 5 degrees of warmth, it is made
out of flexible smooth composite skin rubber which means
there is no need for any Velcro.
There is a thin chin strap on this to
enhance comfort as well while keeping chafing and
obstruction of breathing down to a minimum.
You can get this in black and it is 1 size
fits all. You won’t have to worry about this hat
riding up or off of your head as well. Pick it up at
Amazon for $23.99 if you’re interested.
3. 7mm NeoSport Bibbed SCUBA
Hood
Here’s one for anyone going scuba
diving. This is a full on scuba wetsuit hood which
covers everything but a portion for your eyes/goggles.
It is $37.95 - $39.95 depending on the size. It’s good
for temperatures in the 40’s and 50’s and it has sealed
seams to keep cold water from getting in. This also
has a trimmable face seal so that you can tailor it to fit
your mask perfectly.
So if you’re looking for a wetsuit hood,
those are 3 different options depending on what you need it
for. I’d suggest looking them up and doing a bit more
research to be sure of your purchase decision.
